hooba's husum's hangout

hooba's firsthand look at the seamy side of husum's burgeoning wine and food industry through the eyes of the players who shall remain nameless until i choose to expose their every deed. i will document the attempts of a career chef who has been sent to the gorge by some higher power to facilitate the change of the local food and wine scene.

jayhawk pride and leftovers

ya ta hey kiddos

hooba here after a long hiatus from blogdom. i purposely avoided doing so until the jayhawk football season was decided. our little bandwagon hit the proverbial bump in the road and alas many have fallen off. we made history this year so i'll leave it at that until our bowl game which will hopefully happen in january in phx or san diego. losing to those missouri bastards wasn't exactly what i wanted but give them their due for beating us on an off night for us not them.

we're just shy of december and lo and behold the harsh reality of doing business in what is a seasonal part of the world is starting to sink in. i prefer working less but that doesn't mean the bills disappear. on the upside we glean the customers who are in for the long haul with us. we had a fine birthday party last eve. for our friend jorie modrich and her crew as well as visitors from camas who when all was said and done made for just the right mix. we enjoyed their company immensely. there were a couple of testy moments involving the remote control and the tv but isn't control of the remote what life is really all about? ain't it like the tv to make us all realize what really controls our lives. about the only remote i was thinking at that point was an island without the box that is actually watching us. thank the lord that wine was the mediator. i would encourage you all to drink more wine and watch less tv unless of course the jayhawks are involved.

should you have any input or feedback i'm all ears and feet. time to check on ratso the catso and turn the heater on in the crib so i can fully appreciate the fact that i have heat, running water, a roof over my head and many friends. on this sunday after thanksgiving those are some of the many things i'm truly thankful for. let's not forget that we live in the greatest country in the world and that in and of itself is worth more than most can imagine. start spreading the christmas cheer if you're inclined and remember the most important part---peace on earth and good will toward men and women. until i have a minute to write me thoughts again i'll leave you with this. it's only money.
